A walk in the park

While photographing engagement photos my main goal is to capture their true interactions and their true essence.
I always ask couples what they like to do together,  and while we are shooting I try to read how they express love to each other,  from shy to playful, fun or romantic each couple has their own style.
While choosing a location to shoot, I always suggest a venue that is significant, that they visit regularly, or where they share a hobby in common.  My direction is easy...I prefer to do candid shots, from simply holding hands, to making out or simply making You look at each others eyes,  anything that feels natural.

Shooting at a venue that is significant for the couple is a good way to create great memories for the years to come and also a fun way to practice for your Wedding photos.

Elizabeth and Brian have just recently moved to San Diego, and one of the things that have made them feel at home is walking their fur babies at Balboa Park which is only a few blocks away from their new apartment.

I had such a lovely time shooting with this couple this past weekend,
this venue has so many cute romantic corners, we shoot in many doorways, garden areas and walkways that the park has to offer... follow my advice to wake up early and shoot before the place gets too crowded.

What would be your perfect location for engagement photos? I know mine would definitely be after a good surfing session with bae!

Dancing in the rain @ Big Bear, CA.

I get to shoot gorgeous weddings all the time, but I have never seen anything like this outdoor wedding... It was just a totally different scenery from the venues where I have photographed before, which are usually more beachy and tropical.

The event was held at Gold Mountain Manor, a classic cabin mansion from 1928.
I just fell in love with the place, the tall trees, the mountains, the greenery landscapes, the fresh air was rich with the fragrance of pines. Everything was so earthy yet romantic.

The Bride and Groom were getting ready in the company of their dearest friends, in a very relaxed atmosphere. Lauren wore her hair in a bun, that was messy but at the same time neat and elegant. She did her own make up,  her whole look stayed true to her personality. Before she wore her gown I love that we had a time for a small session of her baby bump.  My favorite part of her outfit was her  vintage blue velvet coat.

Their first look was in a corridor behind the cabin, that was surrounded with beautiful greenery and a giant pine tree, where Travis was waiting excited to see Lauren as a bride.
They have an amazing group of friends who are clearly there through thick and thin, The Bridesmaids and Groomsmen were hilarious,  that really made my work so much fun and easy, they were at all times joking and just being silly.

This couple has a very unique style and their personal mark was evident in every detail...
The ceremony was celebrated in the garden, I was in awe for the majesty and comforting sounds of the birds singing, the sun was bright and the air was so fresh... The ceremony was so meaningful, every word pronounced was honest and profound. We witnessed true love and commitment.

The reception began, while the guests waited for dinner, it started to rain. The rain increased in intensity, so all the guests had to go inside the cabin.
Meanwhile Lauren and Travis were up for some photos in the rain, the result was spectacular, the light filtering through the boughs in both brilliant and shadowy beams, it felt like we were in a scene from a movie.

In 3 of my favorite weddings that I have photographed, there has been  rain... and I LOVE IT!!
A rainy wedding makes for a great story, there is something about the environment that inspires a feeling of camaraderie in guests, leading to more attentiveness, participation and a true sense of community. Everyone specially the Bride and Groom had such a positive attitude and enjoyed the rainy afternoon that gathered them all together. Some people were playing pool, They found themselves comfortable spaces to sit and talk, it was so cozy... inside the cabin smelled like old wood and coffee, everyone joined together by the chimney and some of their friends shared stories and speeches, and they made a toast.

The rain was finally gone, and people still wanted to party... so we all went outside. I was impressed! these people are heavy dancers, so at all time the dance floor was crowded. Everyone had an incredible time, and so I did!

Traveling is fun, being a photographer is my passion, but being a part of such special moments in the lives of such unique people is just really what fills my heart with joy as a wedding photographer!

From the bottom of my heart, I can not Thank You enough,  I was repeatedly told that I was an important part of the day, You listened to my suggestions and treated me not as a vendor but as a friend, I wish You nothing but the best <3
